Prof. (Dr) Hossana Twinomurinzi

Prof. Hossana Twinomurinzi has a BSc (Hons) Mathematics, MSc IT, PhD IT, MSc Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering, and is a C1-rated NRF Researcher and Distinguished Professor (4IR & Digitization) at the Centre for Augmented Intelligence and Data Science, University of South Africa (UNISA).
He previously served as Vice Dean for Research, Innovation & Internationalisation in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Johannesburg, where he led initiatives to embed data science across research, teaching, and community engagement. His research focuses on Augmented Intelligence, Digital Skills Development, Digital Government, Digital Innovation, and ICT for Development (ICT4D). His work has informed national digital policy in South Africa and featured in reports by the World Bank and the United Nations.
He has supervised more than 17 Doctoral students in areas spanning data analytics, digital government, and ICT4D, and continues to mentor emerging scholars across Africa. He serves as Associate Editor for the African Journal of Information and Communication and has previously held editorial roles with the African Journal of Information Systems. He is the Immediate Past Chairperson of the ICT4D Flagship at UNISA and Past Secretary of SAICSIT. He has led national research projects and contract research across multiple sectors including government, defence, finance, and non-profit organizations.
